One of the greatest opportunities we have before us is great life-changing books. I love great books written by leaders who make it their business to impact people and add value to people’s lives.
The book “Winning with People,” by John C. Maxwell was one such book. Throughout our lives, we constantly deal with people regardless of our occupation, social economic level, geographic location, or family structure.
“Winning with People” does a marvelous job of pointing out ways we can improve our ability to improve relationships and communicate with positive impact.
Few things in life compare to the ability to influence people around us and to create a win-win situation and maintain harmony and peace. Success and harmony are not a coincidence.
In “Winning with People,” Maxwell clearly explains that who we are will determine how others see us and react to us. We may not be able to change the whole world and the people in it, but we can change ourselves to improve how we and our ideas are received.
Life in this world is more about positive relationships than self focus. Hurting people, hurt people. Listening and learning about other people’s hopes and concerns is more important than correcting and instructing.
We must not remove a fly from a friends head with a hatchet. People only care to know what you know when they know that you sincerely care.

Maxwell puts into perspective step by step how to create a lasting win-win relationship. The more we learn how to invest our valuable time with people we value with positive effectiveness, the more we all benefit. It’s not about how well we do, rather it’s about how well we can influence and add value to others on the team.
This book is a must read for those who want more effective relationships, harmony, and fulfillment in life.
